Upgrading yourself after school or continue schooling?

Sitting home unemployed for many years after school can be grueling. But the answer is not to go back to school. This is a trend I have noticed among many of my colleagues. After sitting home unemployed for a couple of years, the decision is to at least continue schooling, especially enroll in a masters degree program. This decision/strategy attempts to solve two problems. The first one is boredom. The second is trying to upgrade oneself for better opportunities. But more often than not, this decision only solves the problem of boredom. Going back to school may be a great idea, but great only if you switch programs from social sciences and arts to more technical, in-demand skills. In other words, you will have more opportunities when you learn skills that you can perform with your hands, and not only your brains. The world is moving to an era where technical skills, especially those that involve hands-on skills, will be the answer to unemployment. AI is changing the world, and we must also adapt quickly or be left behind with all our degrees. The answer to employment in Ghana today is not more school—-it is switching up degrees for more technical/vocational skills. But the question is, will a first class degree holder agree to this new reality even after several years of failed employment attempts?
